Savvy, by Ingrid Law, tells about Mibs who is about to have her 13th birthday and come into her savvy. Savvies are extra talents that her family has. These talents can be fun, simple and even dangerous. (Think about the movie, THE INCREDIBLES.) Two days before her birthday, Mibs's father has a terrible accident. Mibs takes off to find him in hopes that she can help him with her Savvy.
This book is funny, touching and feels very real. It's a page turner that's difficult to put down. If you read it at the dinner table please don't spill soup on it.
Your Hosts: Captain Grey Beard and Mr. King (not pictured)
The Captain often says, "Raven stew sounds mighty good for dinner tonight, eh, Rrrr-ripper?" or "What did you do with me library book this time, you sorry excuse for a parrot?".
About This Weblog
It's about books and games and jokes, but you already figured that out. I just thought I should explain 'cuz there be some adults that need to have things done up all purdy like or they start a twitchin', if you know what I means. Meself, I like to read....a lot. I like games and TV, too, but books are me favorite. One thing I learnt right away about televisions: most are too heavy to carry around. I ain't no inky squid, mate. No way can a pirate hold on to his musket and a television at the same time! A book, now that's different. I can take a banana bunch of those along where ever I go...'cept swimmin' of course. And another, thing, there's no 'lectricity on my ship. That sorta puts a cutless through the TV watchin' onboard. Well, stick around and join in or take your turn feeding the sharks...har, har. Later mates! Joke: Why was I able to buy my ship so cheaply? Cuz it was on sail!
